Product Info

In order to deliver goods in a safe and sound manner, the new Canter has evolved further. Improvements have been made especially on driving safety and comfort in hope of keeping drivers fresh and alert. Mitsubishi FUSO offers the latest technology available, bringing fuel economy to the highest level.

To meet the demands of environment protection, we adopted the famous “BlueTec® technology” – a cutting edge technology used to break down harmful chemicals during emission. The urea used on cars is a non-corrosive colorless liquid. Its concentration is 32.5%, and shall comply with DIN70070 standards.

Drag clutch type AMT “DUONIC 2.0” features both the easiness of driving of Torucon Type AT and high fuel mileage of MT at high level adopted; it also features an “Eco-mode” that further saves fuel consumption and improves work efficiency. A Hill Start Assist function is hired so that hill starts can be launched smoothly.

Our FUSO trucks were tested on road for over 3 million kilometers before being shipped. This is equivalent to 7 times the distance between the Moon and the Earth. This is to ensure that our trucks reach the highest safety standards, which comprises of Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electric Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and airbags.

Total Safety Driving Assistance System


FUSO Canter is the first light duty truck applying Total Safety Driving Assistance System in Hong Kong. Taking the driver’s safety as the main concern, we draw the commercial car industry onward to a new driving era.

Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS)

The AEBS is a device which automatically applies the brake to prevent a collision with a forward vehicle or reduce the impact by decelerating the collision speed. When a vehicle is either running or halted in front, detecting danger of collision minimizes collision impact by warning or automatic braking. Before warning generation, if the distance decreases dramatically fast, the automatic brake takes precedence. The system can also detect a collision risk with a moving pedestrian and minimize the collision impact by audible/Visual warning and automatic braking.

Warning Stages

The AEBS works in 3 stages: Warning, Partial Braking, Full Braking. During any of these stages, if the driver intervenes in the situation, or the risk of collision is avoided, the AEBS warning/braking is automatically aborted.


Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

One of the main causes of collisions on the highway is unintentional lane deviation due to driver error, distraction, or drowsiness. The LDWS warns the driver when the vehicle starts to deviate from its lane without a turn signal in that direction.

The LDWS operates when the vehicle speed exceeds 60 km/h. If the LDWS detects unintentional lane departures, it triggers visual and acoustic warnings to alert the driver. For example, if the driver gets distracted and let the vehicle drift to the right lane without activating the right turn signal, the LDWS shows a lane departure warning message on the multi-information display and rings a warning alarm. Being alerted to the dangerous situation, the driver can correct the steering direction in time to avoid a collision.


Electronic Stability Program (ESP®)

During misjudged cornering or evasive maneuvers, a vehicle may lose traction and steering control, resulting in understeer, oversteer, or roll-over. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) senses and corrects traction loss to reduce the risk of understeer, oversteer, and roll-over.

Based on signals from the ESP® sensor, steering wheel sensor and accelerator pedal position sensor, the ESP® determines the direction in which the driver intends to steer the vehicle and compares it with the actual direction in which the vehicle is moving. If the ESP® judges a situation to be dangerous, it reduces the engine output and controls the brakes to prevent the vehicle from rolling over, drifting out, or spinning out of the intended driving course.

Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) includes:
Anti-Slip Regulator (ASR)
Brake Assist (BA)
Drag Torque Control (DTC)


Anti-Spin Regulator (ASR)

If the driven wheels spin while starting on a slope or a split traction surface, the vehicle may not start smoothly, or in the worst case, may even skid backwards. If the driven wheels spin while cornering, the vehicle may oversteer and skid into a different lane, hitting other vehicles. The Anti-Spin Regulator (ASR) detects and prevents traction loss on driven wheels.

The ASR uses wheel speed sensors to monitor the rotational speed of driven wheels (for example, the rear wheels on a Canter FE). If the ASR detects traction loss on one or more driven wheels (for instance, one driven wheel is spinning significantly faster than the other wheels), it automatically reduces engine output and applies brake force to the spinning wheel.


Brake Assist (BA)

The ESP® detects if the driver is trying to perform an emergency stop by sensing the speed and force with which the brake pedal is depressed. If the system judges that insufficient brake force is generated by the driver, it intervenes and increases the brake fluid pressure by means of a hydraulic unit motor. The braking distance is therefore minimized.


Drag Torque Control (DTC)

Drag torque control is another function of the ESP. Excessive engine braking on a slippery road surface can cause wheel slippage. When the ESP detects such wheel traction loss during engine braking or sudden engine speed decrease, the drag torque control function increases the engine torque to help the vehicle regain traction and steering control, thus enhancing vehicle stability.


Electronic Brake Wear Indicator (BWI)

BWI detects the disc brake pads condition and warn the drivers when it is in need of replacement. When the disc brake pads have worn to the service limit, the BWI lamp comes on and informs the drivers that the disc brake pads must be replaced.


Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) + Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)

Wheel lock-up can happen under hard braking or braking on low-traction surfaces. If the applied brake force is greater than the tire’s grip limit, the wheel can stop rotating (locking up), causing the vehicle to skid on the road surface. When the front wheels are locking up, the steering control is completely lost. The ABS prevents wheel lock-up, thus improving vehicle stability and steering control under hard braking.

The EBD supplements the ABS by varying the braking force to the wheels based on vehicle load or road conditions to maximize the braking power and minimize the braking distance. For instance, on an unloaded truck, the front axle carries the most weight (engine, transmission, cabin, driver and passengers). In this case, the EBD will distribute more braking power to the front brakes and less to the rear to prevent rear wheel lock-up and resultant skidding.


Hill Start Assist System (EZGO) – MT / DUONIC

Starting up hills from a full stop might be challenging to drivers who are inexperienced with a manual gearbox, or when driving in heavy traffic on steep hills. The Hill Start Assist system supports the driver to perform a smooth uphill start without worrying about stalling the engine and rolling back.
